You want to start getting serious about your pinning. You want to see what content from your website is getting pinned onto Pinterest.

What is Pinterest Analytics?

It allows you to see how people are interacting with your pins and content from your website.

Why is this important?

  • Allows you to track content that is popular
  • Make changes to less popular content
  • See what content is creating more engagement (is it a particular type of image, title)

Setting Up Pinterest Analytics

You will need to follow the below steps to set up your Pinterest Analytics:-

Business Pinterest Account

Ensure you have set up your Pinterest account as a BUSINESS account. This will enable the analytics feature on your Pinterest.

You have 2 options:-

  • Start a totally new Business Pinterest Account – or:-
  • Convert your personal account to a business account.

Don’t worry there is not much difference in the two accounts just one is getting developed for businesses and allows analytics.

If you need to convert your personal account to a business account

  1. Log into your personal Pinterest account
  2. Go to Pinterest for Business
  3. Click Convert Now
  4. Fill out your new profile information and click convert.

You are ready to move to the next step.

*** Unsure what sort of Pinterest account you have? Log In, click settings then account settings and at the top of the page it should say Business Account Settings if it is a business account ***

Once you have your business account

Now you are ready to check out your analytics and to connect your website.

Once you are logged into you business account you can view your analytics from the analytics dropdown

Once you are in there your analytics will look similar to below – if only new however it will tell you it is still collecting data so check back in 24 hours.

To Confirm Your Website with Pinterest

Go to the three-dots icon on the top left >edit settings.

Click on the claim Website button.

This will then open a pop up like below:-

Choose one of the options above.

i) Add HTML tag- will prompt a code that you can copy and paste on your website

There is a couple of ways to do this.

1) Add it to the <head> section of the index.html file of your website before the <body> section.

2) The easiest way in WordPress is go to Tools –

Then scroll down to Website Verification Tools, and enter the Meta Name code in the bottom section then press Save Changes.

ii) Upload HTML file - There is also another option to Upload an HTML file – however I would be not attempting this if you are not familiar with using your FTP files.

Once you have uploaded the Meta Name you then go back to pinterest.com/website/verify and click Complete Confirmation.

You are now set up for Pinterest Analytics.
