Good-Old Tips for Blogger Productivity

blogging guest post Jun 04, 2018

There are many reasons why people become bloggers and there’s roughly the same number of topics they cover in their posts. This means that trying to find what all of them have in common (apart from a penchant for writing) would be impossible. Still, if we want to analyse what sets some apart from others, we could see some common traits.

One of them is the fact that every successful blogger is productive. Those who have never tried blogging may find it hard to realize how important it is to be regularly present in the virtual world with new posts and they may fail to appreciate how difficult it can sometimes be to remain prolific.

In order to combat this problem, many experts, including bloggers themselves, have talked and (obviously) blogged about it. Here are just some tips they recommend we use when it comes to being productive:

Set attainable goals

Ask yourself why you’re blogging and what you want to achieve. Whether you see yourself as a freelancer or someone who just contributes to various sites to earn some cash on the side, you need to know what you want to achieve, so that you can develop an appropriate strategy, which will include the number of posts you should make. If you have a clearly defined goal written down, you’re more likely to attain it.

Choose tasks wisely

Not every task is right for you. If you look at what you want to achieve, you’ll see if a job offered to you fits your career plan. By choosing only the right jobs, you’ll get to your ultimate goal much faster and you’ll be able to avoid many distractions. You could write your dream on personalised post it notes and stick them somewhere near your computer so that you remind yourself of what you really want.

Create a stimulating environment

Most people are more productive in an environment that is not cluttered since every object can be a distraction. That’s why you should get rid of everything that can prevent you from focusing on the task in front of you. However, a family photo or a plant can be a great addition, providing a breath of fresh air or a reminder of true love.

Timing

If you’re working from home, you know how difficult it can be sometimes to work in peace and quiet. Try to find a slot when you don’t expect any distractions or noise and plan to write during that period. Ideally, there won’t be anyone around to disturb you and you’ll be able to focus and give your best. This is particularly important if you don’t have a spare room, which you can flip into an office.

Prioritise

It’s extremely important to prioritise well, so that you get everything done on time. Do the most important tasks first or if they are all equally important, choose your least desirable task first. Once you get it out of your way, you’ll feel energised and positive, which will inevitably lead to improved creativity.

Divide large projects into small ones

If you break up a large project into smaller, manageable chunks, you’ll be able to focus better and get a sense of accomplishment each time you finish a task. That sense should help you keep your motivation high and boost your productivity.

Force yourself

This good, old-fashioned method of maintaining the desired level of productivity is difficult to implement, but is sometimes just unavoidable and has no alternative. Struggling with yourself is one of the most difficult things in life, but it’s necessary if you want to achieve great results.

Healthy life

Your body needs to be in great shape if you want your brain to follow suit. That’s why you should really pay attention to what you eat, find time to do regular exercise and get enough sleep. Also, make sure you keep contact with friends and generally do stuff that makes you feel good. This positive feeling is bound to affect your productivity and energy levels.

Final thoughts

These tips may seem trivial and quite obvious, but you’d be surprised to see how many people simply forget about them, which has a very negative effect on their overall performance and results. If you find them easy to follow, great! You won’t have any problems implementing the suggestions and improving your productivity.

Happy blogging!
